Position: Program Co-facilitator
Hours per week: 6 hours/week x 30 weeks/year of programming (3 cycles of 10-weeks, April 1/18 – March 31/19) and 4 hours/week x 6 weeks/year outreach, recruiting new participants
Wage: Reflective of education and experience

SPLASH is an outdoor based program that explores early childhood education in the natural environment. Children will increase their independence, confidence and resiliency in creative group opportunities and maintain physical health and emotional wellness by being engaged in an active outdoor program. Parents will be expected to participate and attend rain or shine with their children. SPLASH will run in the fall and spring, reflective of the seasons while FLY will be offered during the winter.

The FLY program provides play and early learning opportunities, independence and resiliency and school readiness instruction to children (aged 18mths- 6yrs), attending with their parents. The parents and children attend the group together with one hour of family time followed by an activity and learning program for the children and an information group session for the parents.

Duties:

  • Provide outreach services to promote and register participants
  • Plan and implement lessons and play activities to meet the children’s needs
  • Create a positive and supportive play/learning environment
  • Shop and provide nutritious snacks to adults and children
  • Maintain participation statistics on-line
  • Provide evaluation and reporting
  • Work on and off-site; at local parks, along the NW Quay, etc.
  • Participate in workshops and professional training

Qualifications:

  • BA in a relevant field or ECE License to practice preferred
  • Knowledge of child development and growth
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently
  • Experience co-facilitating groups
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • This position requires flexibility due to the nature of SPLASH being an outdoor program
